Safari Activities at Pungwe Safari Camp

At Pungwe Safari Camp, you can indulge in twice-daily private game drives or a guided morning bush walk and afternoon guided game drive in the Manyeleti Game Reserve.

Off-Road Game Drives in the Manyeleti

The Manyeleti Game Reserve is one of the best places to witness predators hunting and animals following their instincts here regardless of their observers. A number of endangered species have also made the reserve their home, and visitors to the area are often given a rare glimpse of honey- badgers, ground hornbills and African wild dogs. The guides at Pungwe Safari Camp are exceptional, and you’ll be amazed at how they can talk on the radio, spot animals and drive at the same time.

Move with the Pace of Nature

While the experience of encountering large game on 4x4 drives is hard to top, what you’ll find during bush walks in Manyeleti Game Reserve is just as memorable, and unexpected. On a bush walk, you’ll uncover the finer details of the veld often overlooked from your seat on a vehicle. You'll come to appreciate the art of tracking; using scat, spoor and other subtle “signs” left behind by all sorts of animals. A guided birding tour is also very worthwhile – there are 500 recorded species in the reserve.

Time Out at the Lodge

While guided bush walks and 4x4 game drives are the top safari highlights at Pungwe Safari Camp, time at the camp relaxing with a cold drink in hand and a book, where a snap of a twig or a quick flutter of birds will soon draw your attention.

Dining in the Bush

From high-tea to dinner under the Milky Way, Pungwe Safari Camp promises an authentic experience and mealtimes are no exception. The atmospheric bush setting is hard to top, as is the selection of South African wines and local beverages.
